UPDATED April 10: Beats for EATS, the annual fundraiser for local nonprofit food-justice organization Arlington EATS, took place March 16 at Town Hall.
An April 10 email to YourArlington said that the effort raised more than $135,000. On March 16 a $30,000 match from Cambridge Savings Bank was announced, saying that every dollar given that night would be doubled to help reach the group’s $60,000 goal.
The event included a cocktail hour, food and dancing.
As in the past, money raised goes toward programming for Arlington EATS, based at 117 Broadway. Last year’s event raised $110,000, a news release said
Organization officials say that the need is real and continuing. Arlington EATS saw a 29 percent increase in the number of people shopping for free at EATS Market in 2022, compared to 2021.
More local families than before now rely on EATS — but the nonprofit believes that it can meet the community’s need because of the generosity of neighbors in Arlington.
