Three months after the runners crossed the finish line at Boylston Street, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced this year’s Boston Marathon has broken a new record for total numbers of funds raised for local charities. In 2025, the event collected $50.4 million in donations, a recent press release says. In 2024, the marathon raised $45.7 million.
According to YourArlington’s coverage of this year’s race, several Arlington residents laced up their shoes for the 26.2-mile journey and helped raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, The Children’s Room (a grief support group based in Arlington), Spoonfuls, which provides food to charities throughout the Boston area, including Arlington Eats, among others.
“The power of the Boston Marathon is evidenced by its positive impact on hundreds of organizations and the causes they support, and the hundreds of thousands of people who benefit from the good work they do every day,” said David Tyrie, president, marketing, digital and specialized consumer client solutions at Bank of America.
“The fund-raising total shows anything is possible when athletes from around the world, volunteers, local businesses, supporters and many more unite in the spirit of determination, selflessness and giving.”
The recent press release says that the 2025 total combines funds raised through the 176 participating nonprofit organizations as well as other donations and fund-raising from race participants. A complete lists of participating organizations is here >>
