Harris, who is known to police, was taken into custody in the area of Paul Revere Road at about 12:35 p.m. A quantity of drugs, later testing positive for cocaine, was found on the suspect during the arrest.
Harris is being held at the Arlington Police Department pending his arraignment Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Cambridge District Court. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be brought against Harris .
A police news release said that “the scourge of drug distribution and substance-use disorder continues to be one of the largest public health and public safety concerns in the nation, even as all eyes are on the Covid-19 pandemic over the past 25 months.” Earlier Tuesday, an Arlington resident died of a suspected drug overdose, the release said.
“Drug use, abuse and distribution continue to be the top quality of life and public safety concerns in communities around the nation,” Chief Juliann Flaherty said in the release. “I wish to commend our Arlington Police investigators on a job well done in apprehending someone who allegedly profits from the suffering and misery of others.”
