Town police have charged a 66-year-old Arlington man for operating under the influence of alcohol, his third offense.
Police said William E. Capasso was found unconscious in a car parked in a bus stop in front of a Mass. Ave. address in East Arlington about 9:15 p.m. Friday, June 19.
Once revived after an officer shook the man’s shoulder four times, he initially declined a number of police requests for breath tests.
“I’m fine. I just want to go home,” a police report notes Capasso said twice.
Asked whether he would like to participate in Standard Field Sobriety, police reported he said: “No man. I’m good.” He also declined to take a portable breath test.
Asked again if he would participate in Standard Field Sobriety Tests, he replied, “My life is over.”
After this, he was arrested.
Asked where he was coming from, Capasso replied Menotomy Grill. Asked how much he had to drink, he said, “Enough.”
At Community Safety, Capasso agreed to take a breath test, which police said showed a blood-alcohol count of 0.22. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Capasso was placed in a cell, his bail was set at $540 and a neighbor took custody of him.
