Once again, Arlington’s monthly open mic series is getting ready to host another night of live music at the Donut Villa Brunch Club and Bar (319 Broadway).
“Jam’n Java Open Mic” is a long-running Arlington community music series, established to provide a free live music venue and a supportive environment for area performers. The events are scheduled for the first Friday of each month. The upcoming show is scheduled Friday, Sept. 4 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Admission is free. Performers of all ages and experience levels, from first-timers to seasoned local professionals, are invited to participate. There is a professional sound system with microphones and direct inputs for instruments.
The Open Mics increasing popularity has drawn a large number of performers. In addition to musicians there is also an occasional poet and comic. Because of the high turnout, performers are typically limited to one song so everyone has a chance to perform. Performer sign-up is in person from 6:30 to 7 p.m. The playing order is then determined randomly.
