UPDATED: “Plug in @ The Robbins,” an educational series targeting those 50 and older, has postponed its free concert that was scheduled for tonight, June 24 at 7.
In a Monday email, the series coordinator, Michèle Meagher, announced the cancellation was due to the extreme heat forecast, with an estimated high temperature of 95 degrees in Arlington today.
The local band Ensemble Eclectia was supposed to close the series’ 13th season — however, according to Meagher, the band is now scheduled to open the 14th season in September.
Ensemble Eclectia is known for playing a wide range of music; from Renaissance lute songs to classic Jazz. This performance is scheduled to take place outside on the Whittemore House Robbins Lawn (670R Mass. Ave.). Should there be rain, the concert is set to take place within Town Hall (730 Mass. Ave.)
The ensemble is made up of members; Louise Grasmere on vocals and cigar-box guitar, Fabio Pirozzolo on traditional, hand percussion, Rich McGlaughlin on bass and music director Peter Lehman on 7-string guitar, theorbo (lute) and vocals.
Although this educational series is targeted for those 50 years and older, anyone above the age of 16 is invited to attend. Plug In @ The Robbins is made possible thanks to the John F. Barry and Margaret O’C. Barry Memorial Fund.
Robbins Library is at 700 Mass. Ave.
