The Arlington Historical Society was the host for a lawn festival and beer garden to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Menotomy. It took place on Saturday, May 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 7 Jason St.
The lawn festival was held from 9:30 to noon, with coffee, scones and muffins provided by Butternut Bakehouse. Attendees viewed an Arlington High School art show and heard performances by the high school’s jazz ensembles. Children’s games and dress-ups were also provided, along with musket loading demonstrations and information about herb gardens.
The beer garden was held from noon to 7 p.m., with beer provided by the Arlington Brewing Co. and food by Mei Mei Dumplings. Freak on 3 performed music.
In the middle of the day, at 1 p.m., architectural historian and building conservator Eric Gradoia and Arlington historian Richard Duffy gave a special lecture, “The 250th Untold Story, about the history of the Jason Russell House and the Russell family.
