Because of a storm expected this weekend, Creative Music Series must cancel the concert scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, with featured musicians, New Root System.
Several musicians would need to drive from out of state, and conditions are expected to be hazardous, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
Alex Lemski, director of the music series, apologized for the cancellation to those who were looking forward to the performance, and said that CMS would return to Arlington when it can. The series showcases jazz performances throughout Boston and the nearby municipalities.
Previously, Lemski had said in a release that the group would comprise four players — Jeff Platz, guitar; Brendan Carniaux, tenor saxophone and reeds; Kit Demos, bass; and Max Goldman, drums.
New Root System has been performing since 2023 with a focus on improvised music as well as original compositions. The group is recording its first album scheduled for release this spring.
