“Who’s Hungry?” – an hour of educational fun for families in Arlington – is planned for Saturday, July 22, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Robbins Library, 700 Mass. Ave.
The community is invited to join Arlington children’s author Toni Buzzeo for a story-telling event that aims to teach guests about food security and nutrition.
Buzzeo plans to read from her two new books, Eat Your Superpowers and Pa, Me, and our Sidewalk Pantry, stories that educate children on food nourishment.
Joining Buzzeo, members from nonprofits dedicated to food accessibility are set to attend this event. Representatives from the Arlington EATS and Food Link, both based in town, and Project Bread plan to be on-hand to share their missions, as well as discuss ways the community can get involved.
One in four households with children in Massachusetts are experiencing food insecurity, according to a press release from the nonprofit Food Link. The “Who’s Hungry?” event is aimed at inspiring Arlington’s youngest residents to work together to help end hunger.
Signed copies of Buzzeo’s books are expected to be sold at the event by members of the Maxima Gift Center.
Those attending are invited to donate a nonperishable food item to Arlington EATS.
Arlington EATS, Project Bread and Food Link are dedicated to decreasing food waste and ensuring Massachusetts community members don’t go hungry.
