An estimated 150 people sampled the fare provided at various tables by 15 Arlington businesses at Town Hall during the Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Taste of Arlington on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Beth Locke, chamber executive director, reported the approximate crowd estimate. She did not have specific numbers yet, but she called online sales before the event up from 2013, “which was fantastic. We are very pleased.”
An informed observer who tasted a variety of offerings believed Menotomy Tavern had the most beautiful table and Bistro Duet the most memorable food (“wonderful cold pea soup with mint and other subtle flavors”), with the two Indian restaurants coming in second.

The observer, who thought the traditional dessert winner was Cookie Time (“love those Florentines”), gave kudos to Trader Joe’s for offering fresh fruit: “Clementines and grapes were welcome alternatives to the sugary, buttery items offered elsewhere” and said the James Nic Trio was “a great addition to the event, playing classic tunes in elegant arrangements with few, if any, breaks.”
