Greater Boston is just a few days shy from the 130th annual Boston Marathon, when thousands of athletes from across the country will take the 26 mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston’s Back Bay.
That excitement is matched by the inevitable frustration of road closures and heavy congestion.
To help keep celebrations high and traffic manageable, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the title sponsor of Bluebikes, is offering $15 in free bike credits systemwide starting Monday, April 20. The promotion is also intended to encourage bike riding during Earth Week.
Riders interested in utilizing the free credits can enter the code BCBSEARTHWEEK26 through the Bluebikes app. The promotion is valid for both pedal and e-bike usage, and the credits will be redeemable until Sunday, April 26.
According to a recent press release, for every ride taken that week, Blue Cross Blue Shields plans to donate $1 to the Environmental League of Massachusetts (up to $10,000).
