Police Log: Sept. 22-27; an accident, trees damaged, a neighbor dispute

September 30, 2026

The following is based on selected Arlington Police Department logs from Sept. 22 through Sept. 27. Excerpts from the Arlington Police Department log:

Tuesday, Sept. 22

9:01 a.m. Accident. Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Wildwood Avenue. When they arrived on scene, they spoke with an employee of a tree service company who was working in the area. He was advised to park his vehicle near 28 Wildwood Ave. He placed two orange safety traffic cones in the area, but while working, he observed a small silver vehicle collide with the safety cone. He witnessed an elderly female operator check the damage and then continue on her way. After obtaining the vehicle registration, officers determined it was a 2013 Honda Fit registered in Arlington. They contacted the female party, who stated she was attempting to turn left onto Wildwood when she observed the construction site. She said the roadway was difficult to travel through, but she was adamant she had not crashed into the cones. She was certain the damage to her lower front bumper was from a prior incident. She stated she could not recall crashing her vehicle; because of that, officers filed a request with the registry to review her license.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

8:31 a.m. Accident. A reporting party at the intersection of Academy and Maple streets spoke to Arlington police about a hit-and-run involving her vehicle. She stated she was about to open her car when another vehicle backed into hers. The collision caused a large dent in the driver’s side door panel and paint transfer. She provided the registration of the vehicle that hit her, which officers confirmed was a 2012 Honda Accord. Officers spoke with the operator by phone, who said he was traveling to UMass-Lowell at the time. He admitted he was in an accident that morning while attempting a three-point turn at the entrance to Town Hall. He told police he left the scene, thinking he did not cause any damage to the other vehicle because his vehicle had no damage. A citation was mailed to him for failure to yield and for not using a turn signal.

Thursday, Sept. 24

9:13 a.m. Neighbor problem. A reporting party came to the Arlington Police station to report a possible harassment prevention order (HPO) violation on Mount Vernon Street. The reporting party stated he has an active HPO against his neighbor and that the party must stay three yards away from his property. He showed officers a recording from his Ring camera earlier that day showing an unknown black vehicle pulled into Mount Vernon, into the driveway next to his residence. The neighbor was seen crossing the street and leaning into the driver’s side of the vehicle while speaking with the driver near his property. These two have prior neighbor disputes, so this matter will be passed along to the court for further assistance.

12:05 p.m. Larceny. A reporting party arrived at the station lobby at Arlington police station to make a report of washed checks. He stated he sent a check to his utility company through the USPS box on Mass. Avenue, but the amount was changed from $144.23 to $443.23. He also noted that two other future checks were cashed and also changed. His bank has been made aware of these fraudulent checks, so the matter is under investigation.

Saturday, Sept. 26

9:28 a.m.Tree down. Arlington police arrived on scene on Hillside Avenue after receiving a report of a downed tree. When they arrived, the fallen tree completely covered the roadway in front of Hillside Avenue. Although no nearby residents were injured, the tree fell onto an unoccupied 2024 Subaru in a driveway. The tree rested on the vehicle’s hood and roof, shattering the rear window and breaking the brake lights. The tree department was called to remove it, and the registered owner was given the report number to share with his insurance company.

Sunday, Sept. 27

6:31 a.m. Tree down. A tree on Kimball Road had fallen onto a residence. When Arlington police arrived on scene, they observed that the fallen tree damaged the residence’s siding, window, roof, and rear porch. The homeowner stated she was concerned all night that the tree would fall over, and just before 6:30 a.m., she was awoken by a loud bang. The fall had slightly shaken the house. Arlington police and DPW came on scene and inspected the area. DPW confirmed the area was safe and that the home’s foundation was undamaged, so a tree service arrived and removed the tree from the residence.
