September 16, 2026

The following is based on selected Arlington Police Department logs from Sept. 8 through Sept. 13. Excerpts from the Arlington Police Department log:

Tuesday, Sept. 8

6:12 p.m. Accident. Officers were dispatched to a parking lot near 1293 Mass. Ave. for a report of a past hit-and-run. The reporting party was standing beside his white Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was parked facing northbound on Massachusetts Avenue. There was minor damage to the quarter panel beneath the tailgate on the rear passenger side. He noticed the damage when he returned to his vehicle after work at a local business. He believes the accident occurred between 12:30, when he returned from his lunch break, and 6 p.m. Officers searched the area, but the only surveillance camera was above the rear doorway, facing the immediate doorway and away from the accident. Officers filed a police report and provided the number to the reporting party.

Wednesday. Sept. 9

6:29 p.m. Leaving the scene of property damage. A hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle and two witnesses occurred in the Whole Foods parking lot on Mass. Avenue. The reporting party stated she was shopping around 2 p.m. and discovered her vehicle had been struck when she came outside. Two witnesses nearby approached her to inform her that her vehicle had been hit. Officers inspected the damage, which was a scratch to the driver’s side rear door and a crack through the driver’s side rear bumper. Additionally, a gray paint transfer was left on her car. The witnesses told officers they saw a gray Ford pickup truck touch the side of the reporting party’s vehicle before driving away. They provided a license plate, which Arlington police used to look up the vehicle. The individual registered with the vehicle matched the description given by the witnesses. Officers arrived at the address associated with the vehicle and confronted the party. When asked if he had been operating that vehicle that day, he confirmed he was at Whole Foods earlier that day. He denied hitting another car when officers originally asked him, but eventually admitted to hitting the car. He was issued a citation for leaving the scene of property damage.

7:16 p.m. Immediate threat. Officers went to Drake Road to investigate threats made. RP stated he was involved in an incident two weeks ago, was arrested, and has had issues with other residents in the past. He was outside smoking cigarettes when he noticed a white female across the street staring at him for 10 to 15 minutes; she had blonde hair. On Thursday, he saw damage to his car. He was speaking to another resident when the female walked by, stared at him again, and said, “You better watch.” He did not reply, and the female left. That’s when he called to report. He was asked if he knew more about her, and he said he didn’t know much, but she lives in the Drake Village senior living area. He was told to contact the police if they have further interactions with that party.

Thursday, Sept. 10

5:23 p.m. Accident. A reporting party was struck in her vehicle Thursday afternoon in the parking lot off Massachusetts Avenue behind Tatte Bakery & Café. The reporting party, in a blue Toyota, stated she was at a red light traveling southbound towards Pleasant Street, waiting for a green light. She noticed a Silver SUV crossover traveling in the right lane next to her, inching towards her in the middle lane. Once the light was green, the vehicle sideswiped the passenger side of her Toyota. The passenger side of her vehicle sustained significant damage. She stated she turned onto Mass. Avenue to exchange information, but the other vehicle did not stop. Officers made several attempts to locate the vehicle or any cameras in the area, but they were unsuccessful.

Friday, Sept. 11

6:19 p.m. Dog bite. A reporting party met officers on the front porch of his residence on Sherborn Street after a bite from a small white poodle in the area of Webcowet Road. The reporting party stated he was on a walk in the neighborhood when the poodle escaped from its home and bit his right knee. The reporting party returned home and noticed the dog bite had broken his skin. He was concerned and called Arlington police because he did not know if the dog was up to date on its vaccines. Officers went to the residence on Webcowet and spoke with the owner. She stated her father had left the storm door open, causing the dog to get out. She was not aware at the time that the dog had bitten anyone, but she provided officers with the dog’s vet records to confirm they were up to date. Animal control followed up to ensure the owner quarantined the dog.

Saturday, Sept. 12

12:13 p.m. Accident. Arlington Police and Fire departments responded to Hutchinson Road for an accident involving a parked car. They found a 2023 Ford F-150 facing southbound in the middle of the street, with heavy damage, front headlights pushed in, and fluid leaking from the impact. Nearby, a black 2016 Volkswagen was partially resting on a stone wall at 66 Hutchinson with heavy damage to the rear left bumper, a broken taillight, and a shattered rear windshield. The Ford operator said he was traveling southbound on Hutchinson when he looked left to admire the golf course. Because his attention was off the road, he veered right and struck the Volkswagen, sending it into the stone wall. The Volkswagen operator had parked her vehicle on the street to clean a home and came outside when she heard the accident. A tow service was called due to the heavy damage to both vehicles. The Ford operator was mailed a citation for unsafe operation of a motor vehicle for failing to pay attention.
