The town is tightening the leash on dog owners who have yet to complete their annual dog license requirements. Starting June 1, the Animal Control Officer plans to mail citations of $50 to residents with unregistered dogs.
According to a recent town release, the citation will be in addition to accrued late fees. Registration is done online, or can be completed by mail or in person at the Town Clerk’s Office (730 Mass. Ave.)
The town law requires all dogs aged 6 months and older must be registered annually.
Those with animals who have passed away or moved out of Arlington are asked to contact the clerk’s office in person, by phone (781-316-3070), or via email at TownClerk@town.arlington.ma.us.
