UPDATED, March 3, 4:30 p.m.: A 44-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle at approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of 1365 Mass. Ave. in the Heights, according to Arlington Police.
“Responding units arrived on scene and closed a portion of Massachusetts Avenue so that first responders could safely investigate the accident,” according to information provided by Capt. Richard Flynn. “The pedestrian…was conscious and alert and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment where she is in stable condition.”
The involved motor vehicle remained at the scene of the accident, and the operator has been cooperating with investigators. This incident will be investigated by the Arlington Police Traffic Unit. More information will be available after the conclusion of the investigation.
Following the accident, Arlington Police closed Mass. Avenue in the Heights, from Paul Revere Road to Park Avenue, and it was reopened by about 9:30 a.m. By 9:40 a.m., the MBTA announced that the 62 and 77 buses were back operating on the regular routes and on the weekday schedule.
TV news helicopters buzzed overhead as the busy stretch was closed around 9:20 a.m.
