On Monday, Oct. 13, Arlington will celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day. In recognition of this holiday, several town offices and libraries will be closed. However, unlike years prior, trash, recycling, and yard waste pick-up will still be collected.
The town says waste collection that week will follow its usual schedule; additional information about collection can be read on the town recycling page.
Arlington’s libraries and town administrative offices (listed below) are scheduled to be closed the entire day;
- Town Hall, 730 Mass. Ave.
- Senior Center, 27 Maple St.
- Recreation Office, 17 Irving St.
- DPW Administrative, 51 Grove St.
- Inspectional Services, 51 Grove St.
- APD Administration, 112 Mystic St.
- APD Records Room, 112 Mystic St.
- Fire Administrative, 411 Mass. Ave.
Arlington held an Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11 at First Parish of Arlington Unitarian Universalist. This free, family-friendly event, featured a performance by the Boston-based collective BOMBAntillana, performing one of the oldest living musical traditions of Puerto Rico.
