A 65-year-old Arlington man died after the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Summer Street on Oct. 5, according to the Arlington Police Department. The man, identified as Martin Mitchell, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Sunday night, at approximately 8 p.m., the Arlington Police Department was called to the intersection of Washington and Summer streets for a report of a crash, according to a department press release. First responders arrived to discover a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
The driver of the other vehicle, an 18-year-old Saugus woman, was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and was later released. That driver is cooperating with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Arlington Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Detectives attached to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
According to a death notice for Martin “Marty” Mitchell, he founded Fine Line Glass & Mirror in 1994. “The man had a heart of gold and was known for his generous nature,” the family wrote in the death notice. “He was always there to lend a hand to anyone who asked. Marty was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.”
He was predeceased by his father, John McIsaac, who died a year ago, and leaves his mother, Angela McIsaac of Arlington, two sisters, Monica Aurilio of Medford and Heather Seymour of Arlington, and a nephew, three nieces, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A self-proclaimed “proud Arlingtonian,” Marty was an avid concert goer and had a passion for boating and fishing.
Friends and family are invited to the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be private.
