The Old Schwamb Mill, the oldest continuously operating mill site in the United States, was among the many venues in participating in Porchfest, brought to you by Arlington Center for the Arts. The mill is the host for the these bands:
Jam Sandwich from noon to 2 p.m
BackPocket from 2 to 4 p.m.: Blues, funk, R&B, soul
Open house at Old Schwamb
In conjunction with Porchfest bands playing, the mill also offers ongoing tours of the mill, including the workshop floor and our second floor gallery featuring the work of Anna Thai.
Admission is free, with a $5 suggested donation.

The Schwamb Mill Preservation Trust exists for the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of the Old Schwamb Mill in Arlingtons. Established in 1864 as a picture frame manufactory, the mill is on the site of many previous mills built on Mill Brook. It is the rare survivor of the small, family owned mills that helped define New England.
The mill’s unique 19th-century elliptical faceplate lathes, its original shaft-and-pulley machinery, and the original hand-turning process are used to this day to create custom-made oval and circular frames. The trust preserves and protects the mill’s site, buildings, tools, archives, machinery and manufacturing techniques as unique cultural and educational resources.
