UPDATED at 10 p.m. Aug. 7: The Arlington Select Board met at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, in person only at the Town Manager’s Conference Room, second floor of Town Hall, 730 Mass. Ave. There was no Zoom option nor was it recorded as is generally true at these meetings.
The next board meeting after this one is scheduled for Aug. 19.
According to the agenda, this meeting was goal-setting meeting led by Board Chair Stephen W. DeCourcey and Town Manager Jim Feeney. The agenda is here >>
YourArlington requested and received a statement from Town Hall as to why this meeting was neither on Zoom nor recorded, which may be read below:
The following comes from Feeney and DeCourcey:
“The goal-setting meetings were held exclusively via Zoom in 2020 and 2021m as that was how all Select Board business was being conducted during that time. There were no goal-setting sessions in 2022 and 2023, but historically these sessions were held in-person outside of the Select Board Chambers and not broadcast via ACMi.
“Although open to the public, there was no Zoom link created because all board members were physically present and there were no agenda items involving people with business before the Town; no public comment nor votes. At the meeting, the Town Manager presents a draft goals document and receives comments from individual board members.
The Town Manager will incorporate the comments into a proposed final document to be considered at the board’s meeting on Sept. 9, 2024. The proposed goals document will be posted to the board’s agenda prior to the Sept. 9 meeting and, once approved, will be linked to the Town Manager and the Select Board web pages.”
