As we marvel at the Northern Lights, when we can see them, the Arlington Land Trust, committed to protecting the town’s open spaces, planned a virtual educational program about Light Pollution for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.
“Restore Dark Skies” saght to inform residents how light pollution disrupts wildlife, impacts human health and contributes to climate change. This event took take place via Zoom.
Kelly Beatty, senior editor at Sky & Telescope Magazine led the program. According to a news release sent by the organization, light pollution increases almost ten percent each year, globally.
Thorndike Place finding may occur Thursday:
The Arlington Land Trust is prepared to present findings the group has collected regarding groundwater monitoring wells via Zoom at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Conservation Commission’s Mugar hearing, a location that has long been proposed for multifamily housing project Thorndike Place.
A recent newsletter detailed that ConCom has been assessing the controversial Thorndike place housing project intended on the Mugar wetlands, a 17-acre habitat to birds and other animals near Dorothy Road in East Arlington.
