The Town of Arlington Clean Energy Future Committee is the host for a public forum about the opt-in Specialized Stretch Energy Code, which is the subject of an article at this spring’s annual Town Meeting. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, on Zoom.

This article introduces to Town Meeting the choice of whether or not to pass the Specialized Stretch Energy Code. Also known as the Municipal Opt-In Code, the code is a new appendix to the Stretch Energy Code, which Arlington Town Meeting adopted in 2010 in order to receive Green Communities designation, that would require that new construction be consistent with achievement of net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions in Massachusetts by 2050.
