This award is given to businesses that do not use rat poison and rather use nontoxic alternatives for pest control. Gary Menin Sr. from RATS provided the award to company owner Suzana and her son, Jeffrey.
Glenbrook Estates, townhouses off Summer Street, received the first Massachusetts OWL award from California-based Raptors are the Solution (RATS) last April.
RATS stands for Raptors Are The Solution. The group educates the public about the ecological role of birds of prey in urban and wild areas and about the danger they face from the widespread use of rat poison.

RATS is a sponsored project of Earth Island Institute, rated four stars by Charity Navigator. RATS raises all of its own funds through grants and donations. The group partners with other nonprofits, agencies, scientists, cities and others to work toward eliminating toxic rodenticides from the food web.
