A grand jury has indicted Brian Worsham, 30, of East Arlington, in connection with charges of possessing child pornography, the office of District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Monday, July 16.
The indictment was among those handed down between May 31 and June 28. The assistant district attorney in the case is Radu Brestyan.
Worsham was arrested on child-pornography charges Feb. 7, after what was described as a long-term, complex investigation led by an Arlington detective.
Worsham was charged without incident after police obtained and served a search warrant at his residence on Oxford Street. He was charged with possessing and disseminating child pornography.
At this time, the department has no reason to believe that any Arlington children have been victimized in this case, a department news release said.
Arlington Police Department Inspector James Smith is assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, and he became the lead investigator of this case while working in close cooperation with the FBI, the release said. In his career, Inspector Smith has closed numerous cases involving the victimization and exploitation of children who are subjected to violence, human trafficking, sexual abuse and child pornography.
A preliminary investigation found numerous images of child pornography on devices in Worsham’s possession.
Worsham was being held at the town police headquarters pending his arraignment Thursday, Feb. 8, in Cambridge District Court.
