Two men involved in cases pursued by Arlington police have been indicted, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced. They are:
— Frederick Gardner, 45, of Atlanta, Ga., who was charged with larceny over $250 from a person over the age of 60 and receiving stolen property over $250; and
— Wilfredo Torres, 50, of Arlington, who was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and being a habitual criminal, possession of a Class B substance, possession of ammunition.
Gardner was charged in connection with an alleged $54,000 theft. The defendant was directly indicted on Dec. 15, 2016, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 5. The defendant defaulted, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The Assistant District Attorney is Doug Nagengast.
On May 20, 2016, in the Torres case, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Park Avenue in Arlington at the defendant’s residence. Inside the residence authorities allegedly found cocaine, a digital scale and a cutting agent indicative of intent to distribute, as well as ammunition.
The defendant was arraigned on Feb. 2 in Middlesex Superior Court. Assistant Clerk Magistrate Matthew Day set bail at $100 cash and ordered the defendant to consume no drugs. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Thursday, March 2. The Assistant District Attorney is Radu Brestyan.
