The following letter to the editor was sent by Bob Bowes, who owns an Arlington real-estate company:
In 1977, Frank Bowes declared that “one man can make a difference” and he began hosting a dinner on Christmas Day for any Arlingtonian who would be eating alone.
For 38 years, we have continued that tradition.
If you will be eating alone on Christmas Day, this is your invitation to join with others for a fun-filled afternoon with a turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings.
We can provide transportation, if needed and there is no cost, as you are our guest.
Dinner is at noon, Friday, Dec. 25, at the Arlington Lodge of Elks, 56 Pond Lane, Arlington.
We have many helpers from the Elks Lodge who will help make it a special day.
Remember, the only criteria are that you are an Arlingtonian, who had planned to eat alone on Christmas.
