With high school graduations past, we head into summer with a sunny disposition, noting recent high points reached by the Arlington public schools.
They deserve a shout-out for:
— U.S. News & World Report calling it a Gold Medal School, ranking it 19 out of the 79 schools that made the criteria for evaluation — six above last year;
— $425,000 from the town of Arlington makes possible technology advances in 2015-2016.
— Following a successful pilot with the teachers and students in Ottoson’s 610 Cluster, the schools are providing a 1-to-1 pilot iPad environment in all four sixth-grade clusters next year.
— The administration has decided to use coated crumble fill on the Peirce Field, behind the high school, a surface called easy to maintain and cooler for players.
