National Grid and Eversource (formerly Northeast Utilities, which merged with NStar) are backing out of agreements to purchase power from Cape Wind, thanks partly to unending lawsuits financed by affluent opponents. Increased development of renewable energy will help us meet the goals of Massachusetts’ Global Warming Solutions Act.
Organizations such as Sustainable Arlington, Mothers Out Front, Mobilizing for A Livable Climate, Environment Massachusetts, Clean Water Action and Massachusetts Climate Action Network, among others, are pressing the president of National Grid to reinstate the company’s commitment.
There’s a petition (tinyurl.com/SaveCapeWind) and rally on Boston Common (signs will be posted with exact location), set for 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28.
Supporters will be taking the T from Alewife or driving in and would be happy to have others join them.
