The Arlington High boys’ basketball team increased its undefeated streak to six, beating Belmont (5-2), 70-55, on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Senior guard Josh Lee (23 points) paced the No. 13 Spy Ponders (6-0)over the No. 20 Marauders. Jaewoo Chung added 11 points and seven assists.
The Spy Ponder girls’ basketball team (4-2) that night lost to Belmont (4-1), 62-54, as the Marauders got 16 points from Irini Nikolaidis.
No. 1 Lady Cougars skate to 4th straight shutout
The No. 1 Arlington Catholic girls’ hockey team (7-1) scored its fourth straight shutout, beating Burlington, 5-0, Monday, Jan. 5. Two days earlier, it handed Archbishop Williams its first loss, 5-0. The AC girls remain No. 1, The Globe reports Jan. 5.
In indoor track on Jan. 6, the AHS boys (1-1) lost to Reading, 64-21, as did the girls’ squad (0-2), 49-37, at Arlington.
The No. 10 AC boys’ hockey squad (3-0-1) beat Lowell Catholic, 5-1, Sunday, Jan. 4.
The Arlington Catholic girls’ basketball team (3-2) on Jan. 5 topped St. Mary’s, 45-34.
St. Mary’s on Jan. 5 handed the AC boys’ hoops squad its first loss in five game, 63-54.
The Arlington Catholic boys’ indoor track team (1-1) crushed Archbishop Williams, 99-42, on Jan. 5.
The AC coed swimming squad (3-1) also won Jan. 5, beating Cardinal Spellman, 86-78.

AHS wrestlers win 2, drop 1
The Arlington High School wrestlers (8-2) won two meets and dropped one Jan. 3. It beat Billerica, 40-30, lost to Chelmsford, 38-33, and topped Shawsheen, 45-24.
The undefeated Arlington High boys’ basketball team improved to 5-0 on Friday, Jan. 2, beating Winchester, 70-59. Senior forward Matt Moroney had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals for the Spy Ponders and Miles Robinson added 18 points.
The Spy Ponder girls’ basketball team (4-1) also won, topping Winchester, 36-20, at home.
