The organizers of the Arlington International Film Festival (AIFF) kicks off the fourth annual festival by announcing the winner of its poster contest on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the second floor hearing room at Arlington Town Hall.
Students from the Arlington, Arlington Catholic and Minuteman High Schools participated in a contest to create the official poster, the face of the 2014 festival.
The winner of the contest will received a check for $500 as the winning poster is unveiled.
The event’s sponsor is YourArlington, and its publisher, Bob Sprague, will present the award.
“Come and celebrate with us the successes of these amazingly creative students,” said festival organizers Alberto Guzman and April Ranck.

Yourarlington.com, online since 2006, is an established voice for news and opinion about Arlington. Its editor and publisher has been an Arlington resident since 1989. He is a veteran journalist, having been editor of The Advocate and an editor at the Boston Globe and Herald.

AIFF’s mission is to foster appreciation for different cultures by exploring the lives of people around the globe through independent film — to nurture the next generation of filmmakers within our community.
AIFF will screen narrative and documentary features and shorts plus a special category of short submissions by high school filmmakers. Panel discussions or Q & A’s follow many screenings, framing provocative conversations with filmmakers/producers, academics, as well as the business community.
