Carol Beggy, Editor
Carol Beggy is an award-winning writer and editor who has been editor of YourArlington since the fall of 2024. Previously, Carol worked at The Boston Globe for more than a dozen years and worked at community newspapers in the Boston suburbs, including five years at The Arlington Advocate. She has worked as a TV producer in news and for feature projects and is talent booker and producer of podcasts.
A longtime resident of Arlington, Carol has served as a Town Meeting member and volunteer for several community initiatives.
After leaving the Globe, Carol worked as a senior consultant for Saragoni & Co. and Praxis Communications on numerous academic, civic, cultural, and social service accounts. She is the author of more than a dozen books, including seven collaborations with renowned Boston photographer Bill Brett. His latest, “Boston: Veterans Appreciation,” will be released in late 2025.
Carol is the author of “Pencil,” published by Bloomsbury Academic, and a member of the American Pencil Collectors Society. She has worked as a bookseller and substitute teacher (but not in Arlington.)
Brynn O’Connor, Assistant Editor
Brynn O’Connor is a journalist who graduated from Emerson College in 2023. She started her career writing for Boston’s Channel 7 News and joined YourArlington as assistant to the editor.
Brynn has been writing, editing and reporting about the town of Arlington for the last two years. In 2024, YourArlington published her four-part series “Arlington vs. The Opioid Epidemic.”
In 2025, Brynn’s title was changed to Assistant Editor.
Bob Sprague, Founder
Bob Sprague, an Arlington resident since 1989, founded YourArlington in 2006. He was the editor until July 2023, two years after turning the site into a nonprofit, governed by a board.
He has been a journalist since 1970, starting as a reporter at the now-closed Bethlehem (Pa.) Globe-Times under John Strohmeyer, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1972 for editorial writing.
While reporting for The Free Press, in Quakertown, Pa., Sprague won a first prize in the 1977 Keystone Press Awards for a 75-story series, which led to changes in state law that opened to the public previously closed meetings.
He has worked as an editor at the Times Herald-Record, in Middletown, N.Y.; the Patriot Ledger in Quincy, the Boston Herald and The Boston Globe. For the latter, he helped copy-edit the national report about the nuclear-arms race, which won a Pulitzer in 1983.
As editor of The Arlington Advocate in 1994-95, the newspaper won a first prize for general excellence for a 10,000-circulation weekly in the U.S, for 1995, National Newspaper Association.
Before starting YourArlington, an online-only publication, Sprague founded the Town of Arlington’s website.
