In-person Town Memorial Day honors for veterans with 2 speakers
May 26 veteran lecture
UPDATED May 17: Join the Town of Arlington as those involved gather to honor our fallen veterans for a Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 30, from 9:30 to noon, in Town Hall Auditorium.
For the first time in two years, residents and officials are able to gather in person.
There are two guest speakers this year: Navy Capt. (retired) Eric Jabs, below right, and Air Force combat pilot Capt. Taylor Bye.
Capt. Bye was forced to land her A-10C Thunderbolt II after a catastrophic gun malfunction. She was met with major failures that prevented her landing gear from deploying, caused panels to fly off the aircraft, and ripped the canopy from the jet.
She managed to skillfully and safely land her A-10, earning her the Air Combat Command Airmanship Award.
She will be speaking at the Community Center (main room) on Thursday, May 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
This event is open to the public and is free of charge. Light refreshments will be available.
Capt. Bye will be speaking about her military career and challenges she overcame to achieve her goal as a combat pilot and field questions.
