The Globe Magazine in a cover story Sunday, Dec. 19, highlighted those its editors have concluded are the "Bostonian of the Year."

Scroll to the right in the link above to the slideshow, and you come to "The Fixers" -- about Diana Rastegayeva and Olivia Adams, two helpful opportunists who created online tools and volunteer networks to meet the Covid-19 crisis.

Both were featured earlier this year in YourArlington. On Feb. 7, a news story headlined "Vaccine site by on-leave engineer keeps going" reported about Adams: "An Arlington woman on maternity leave from her job as a software engineer has accomplished what state officials have so far struggled to do -- create an easy way for people to find Covid-19 vaccine appointments open in the state."

On March 3, "Grass-roots action to register for Covid shots dreamed up here," says: "At an in-law's kitchen table at a home near Robbins Farm, a couple has devised a simple online effort to guide the perplexed toward securing appointments for Covid-19 shots." They are Rastegayeva and Jonathan Huggins.

The Globe Magazine piece is headlined "When vaccination signup sites were broken, they interrupted maternity leave to help." See its account of Adams and Rastegayeva here >>
