UPDATED, Feb. 29: In the MIAA boys' basketball tournament, No. 9 Arlington Catholic (13-8) beat No. 8 Minuteman (12-9) in the first round of Division 3 North on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Minuteman. The score was 62-57.
Senior Cam Garver scored 14 points to pace the Cougars over the Mustangs. But AC then lost to top-seeded St. Mary's (21-2) on Saturday, Feb. 29, at St. Mary's. The score was 78-49,
AHS girls lose
In the MIAA girls' basketball tournament, No. 6 Andover (14-6) beat No. 11 Arlington (12-9) in the first round of Division 1 North set for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Andover. The score was 51-39.
Arlington junior Ava Connolly scored 15 points, and Andover junior Tatum Shaw had 22 points for the host Warriors (15-6). Also for AHS Claire Ewen netted 10 points and Diana Wicks had eight.After trailing at halftime, 23-16, the Spy Ponders had a 19-9 run in the third quarter to lead, 35-32, but Andover shot ahead to win.
AHS girls, AC boys win
The Arlington High School girls’ basketball team improved to 12-8, beating Waltham (8-12), 62-41, on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The Arlington Catholic boys’ basketball team (12-8) topped Hamilton-Wenham, 70-49, on Feb. 18 in the consolation game of the Patton Tournament.
On Monday, Feb. 17, Revere beat AC, 62-55, on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at Hamilton-Wenham High, Hamilton. Sophomore John Capozzi (13 points) and senior Robert Raduazzo (12 points) led the Patriots (10-9) over the Cougars in the Patton Tournament. Revere qualified for the MIAA Tournament with the win.
The AC girls' basketball team (7-13) fell to St. Peter-Marian (6-1), 39-30, on Feb. 18.
