Hearing continues scrutiny of revised Mugar plan

The continued Zoning Board of Appeals hearing for the proposed Thorndike Place project is set for Tuesday, June 29, at 6:30 p.m. (note earlier time) via Zoom. Register here >>

Oaktree, the North Cambridge developer, presented additional revisions to its plan during the last hearing, June 10. This plan included 124 rental units for senior independent living, with no assisted-living units, as proposed previously.

The ZBA requested the applicant provide additional information to address the public health and safety concerns raised by this type of specialized housing, in addition to other outstanding materials.

Town Counsel Doug Heim drafted a memorandum of understanding for the applicant, the town and other potential parties in developing a plan to improve, mitigate and transfer the undeveloped parcel of about 12.5 acres of land for conservation purposes.

Many questions remain to be addressed before any transfer can occur. There are other hearings scheduled:

Docket # 3660: 10 Sunnyside Ave.

In accord with Section 3.2.3A of the zoning bylaws, M.B. Realty Group LLC of Arlington filed on May 30, 2021, a petition seeking permission to operate a business located at 10 Sunnyside Ave. Block Plan No. 057.0-0002-0013.0 The petition would require a special permit under Section 5. Subsection 5-33 of the zoning bylaw.

 Docket # 3659: 55 Sutherland Road   

In accord with Section 3.2.3A, of the zoning bylaws, Ravitha Amarasingham of Arlington filed on May 30, 2021, a petition seeking permission to alter his property at 55 Sutherland Road -  Block Plan No. 120.0-0013-0007.0. The petition would require a special permit under Section 5.3.9 (A) (Projections into Minimum Yards) of the zoning bylaw.
