Arlington’s CDBG program year 49 is to begin July 1 and conclude the following June 30. The application period closed Jan. 13. Funding will support projects including Affordable Housing, Economic Development, Parks, Public Facilities, & Infrastructure, Public Services, and Planning and Administration.

The program was created in 1974 as part of Title I of the HCD ACT of 1974, as amended, and is run by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. CDBG provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons
