Pop Arlington Holiday Market: Marigold Bazaar at Uncle Sam Plaza
UPDATED Dec. 10: The Pop Arlington Holiday Market continues at the town visitor center at Uncle Sam Plaza, with Marigold Bazaar, from Dec. 10 through 16.
Owner Suchi Mumford calls her business a product of Covid-19: "It was always a dream of mine to do something like this, and I finally had the time to launch it."
At its core, Marigold Bazaar imports handmade household items. She offers a variety of block-print napkins, table cloths, travel cases, handwoven blanket/throws and cheese boards -- all made by artists in their home studios in India during the pandemic.
"The idea is to support artists and timeless techniques by offering useful and beautiful items," she wrote.
Everything is made in small batches (typically no more than 100 of each design). During the pop-up market, all items are offered at about 10- to 15-percent less than what Mumford charges on Etsy.
This business is melding of by background work and life experiences.
The Dunstable resident is in Arlington throughout the week because her youngest is at Arlington High School.
Her current plan is to travel to India in January and connect with more artists.
YourArlington met Suchi in 2013, when she owned Indigo Fire, a pottery studio in Belmont. She sold it in 2018, and it thrives under the new owner. In April 2018, she had put art on wheeels with the Artmobile.
