Among the young filmmakers whose works will be shown at the seventh annual Arlington International Film Festival's "Voices of Our Youth" is Jonathan Vogel, a senior at Arlington High School.

His three-minute film, titled "Roulette," is an official selection in the 2017 AIFF students’ filmmakers category and has its world premiere.

The 17-year-old has been making short films with his friends for fun for a while, his father, Anthony wrote Oct. 24.

"This particular film began as an exercise for his Art of the Cinema class taught by Michael Byrne," who teaches drama in the AHS performing-arts department and has spearheaded many memorable student productions.

Jonathan plans to study film and graphic design in college next year, his father wrote.

In "Roulette," a man finds himself in an unknown location face to face with another. A nonconsensual game of Russian roulette ensues while the victim searches for a way to escape.
