Experienced Middle Eastern style dancer Seyyide, who according to her biography has more than two decades of experience in her art form, plans to present an outdoors "pop-up" raqs sharqi performance (Middle Eastern dance, a.k.a. "belly dance").

This is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Broadway Plaza, 327 Broadway.

The guest artist is expected to be Charles Dermenjian on percussion (darbuka, also known as darbuka, derbake, tabla or Arabic drum). This outdoor event is also free, but contributions will be accepted.

This project is partially supported by a grant from Arlington Cultural Council and is intended to present this art form in public areas where town residents already are accustomed to gather.
