A familiar stretch of Route 2 will look a little different for drivers starting Aug. 17, as crews prepare to narrow traffic along the westbound Frontage Road for sidewalk work in Arlington.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced temporary lane closures between Park and Dow avenues, beginning Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug 28. Commuters can expect the routes to be unavailable daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. during this time.
This schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice, according to the state press release.
According to MassDOT, despite the lane closures — which is being performed under a district-wide sidewalk contract — one lane of traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of work.
There will be signs, law enforcement details, and message boards to help guide drivers through the area. Drivers are asked to travel with reduced speed and increased caution.
Those looking for additional information of traffic conditions are encouraged to visit www.mass511.com to view live cameras, travel times, real-time traffic conditions, and project information before setting out on the road.
