A two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Winslow and Mystic Street occurred on Sunday, April 26, shortly before 4 p.m. The accident involved a silver Toyota Prius crashing into a chain-link fence and dropping down a 5-foot-high embankment. Officers found the other involved vehicle, a gray Honda, in the right lane on Mystic Street with deployed airbags. The operator of the Prius said she was traveling northbound on Mystic Street, where she was about to take a left-hand turn onto Winslow. While waiting to take the turn, another operator traveling southbound on Mystic stopped and waved, giving her access to turn. She began taking her turn but was struck on the rear passenger side, causing her to lose control of her vehicle. She crashed into a nearby fence and went over the wall as a result. She does not remember what caused her to go over the wall, but she stated she had her seatbelt on. The operator of the Honda was traveling northbound on Mystic in the right lane. She was continuing onto Mystic when the Prius turned in front of her. She stated she was not on the phone and wearing a seatbelt, but does not remember the cause of the crash. Because the operator of the Prius failed to yield, she was issued a citation, and a tow truck then picked up her vehicle. The citation was given to her husband because she was sent to a local hospital.

Thursday, April 23
5:12 p.m. Accident. Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Lake Street and Wilson Avenue. When they arrived on scene, they found a motorcycle on Lake Street with heavy damage, but the operator was sitting on the curve. The motorcycle operator said he was turning from Wilson onto Lake when he stopped because he saw traffic in the northbound lane. He did not see anyone coming in the southbound lane, so he continued in that direction. During his left turn, he crashed into another vehicle traveling southbound on Lake Street. The operator of the motor vehicle traveling on Lake Street stated that she saw the motorcycle exit Wilson Ave and crash into her vehicle. A witness behind him observed the motorcycle operator crash into the vehicle. The motorcyclist received a citation via mail because he was treated for minor back pain and transported to a local hospital.
Friday, April 24
12:33 p.m. Neighbor Problem. Officers spoke to a resident and her husband on Madison Avenue regarding an ongoing problem with one of their neighbors. The husband stated that while doing the dishes yesterday morning, his neighbor pulled out of his driveway, pointing his middle finger at him. Later that night, they heard loud music blasting from his apartment. This was not the first occurrence of loud music but every time they call the cops, the neighbor turns the music down right before the cops show up. They have an upcoming eviction meeting for that party, so they were advised to express their rights to obtain a Harassment Prevention Order (HPO) against this neighbor. They were granted an HPO last year, but it was not renewed.
Saturday, April 25
9:02 p.m. Crash. Upon arrival in Lancaster for a report of a crash, officers found that the reporting party had followed the other operator, who had fled the scene at the intersection of Massachusetts and Park Avenue. The reporting party operating vehicle one stated he was traveling westbound on Mass Avenue when he was about to turn northbound onto Park Avenue. That is when motor vehicle two, operated by a DoorDash Driver, attempted to pass on the right side, utilizing the bus lane. As a result, the front left side of his vehicle struck the front right side of motor vehicle one. Motor vehicle one sustained minor damage to the right-side panel of the front passenger door, while motor vehicle two sustained moderate damage to the left, including a partially detached bumper. The DoorDash driver demonstrated limited proficiency in English when speaking with officers, so a translation app was used to ensure clear communication. Through the translation app, he stated he fled the scene to complete a DoorDash delivery. He believed he could make the delivery and then return to the scene of the accident. As a result, he was issued a citation for a marked lane violation.
Sunday, April 26
4:16 p.m. Destruction of Property. A resident on Marathon Street made a report of a destruction of property after discovering a broken window on her front porch. She did not know anyone who could have done it and did not have any problems with her neighbors. She informed officers that she had a poster in the window that said, “We Stand with Israel,” but was not certain that was the reason for the broken window. This was the second instance in the past week. She and her partner had purchased a Blink camera system in hopes that it would deter anyone from continuing the vandalism, but they had not yet set it up before this second incident occurred.
8:42 p.m. Shoplifting. Officers met with the manager at the Whole Foods on Massachusetts Avenue to investigate a report of shoplifting. The manager told officers that about an hour ago, a black man wearing a blue World Cup hoodie, dark pants, and a black and white striped coat had shoplifted. He put several items in his bag, walked through the self-checkout aisle, and left the store without purchasing anything. When asked if they had seen the male party at the establishment before, the manager stated he had come in a few hours earlier, soliciting in the same area in the back. He is believed to have left heading toward Mass. Avenue. The items believed to have been taken included candles, coconut oil, and bottled water, totaling around $200.
