The town’s cultural district has just received a $15,000 award from the Mass Cultural Council (MCC), as part of the organization’s fiscal year 2026 Cultural District Grants. The Arlington cultural district, stretching from the Arlington High School to East Arlington’s Capitol Square, is one of 58 in the Commonwealth receiving investment grants.
Each district was awarded the same amount of funding, with a total of $870,000 distributed by the MCC.
According to the council’s website, these funds strive to support efforts that stimulate creativity and community, including all marketing and promotion, public art and place-based work, collaborative planning, community-engaged data collection, and more.
The Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture cannot say in advance which expenses will be supported by this grant, according to ACAC co-chair Stewart Ikeda. However, last year’s projects and expenses that were funded using the MCC cultural district grant for fiscal year 2025 included (but were not limited to) the annual Halloween Crawl event, art supplies for crafts during Porchfest, the Black Patriots of Menotomy celebration, as well as performer fees for the Garage Band concert event.
