The Arlington Public School district has brought on Christopher Schweitzer as the new assistant superintendent of finance and operations. He will start his duties at the district Nov. 3, according to an email from APS Superintendent, Dr. Elizabeth Homan,
The previous assistant superintendent of finance and operations was Francis Gorski. The position is responsible for providing fiscal and operational leadership and oversight to the APS district. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing the annual school operating and capital budgets, and maintaining financial controls for expenditures and revenues, including grant, capital and revolving funds.
“Throughout the search process, Chris demonstrated a deep knowledge of all things school finance and a commitment to Arlington’s values. He has done a lot of research already on the initiatives in the strategic plan, the town’s governance structure, and the work on the horizon,” Homan wrote in an email to APS staff.
Before stepping into his new role with Arlington, Schweitzer will be finishing his time at Everett Public School’s budget and grants director. Before that, he was the school’s financial analyst.
Until the new assistant superintendent begins his role, Homan has been the district’s acting finance lead.
