The Philharmonic Society of Arlington (PSA) hled its annual Pops Concert and strawberry and ice cream festival Friday, June 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall Gardens.
Presenting this year’s festival entertainment was the Liberty Bones Brass Ensemble and Davey the Clown. The orchestra concert, conducted by Orlando Cela and Stephanie Beatrice, began at 7:30 p.m. indoors and was live-streamed by ACMi.
This year’s Pops Concert theme is “Celebrating Arlington 250” and the PSA is preparing the suite from the Tony award-winning musical “Hamilton” by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Additionally, the group is expected to play selections from William Grant Still’s “Afro-American Symphony,” and a special performance of Aaron Copland’s “Our Town,” featuring readings about Arlington by local poets in the foreground. As is the tradition of Pops, the evening will end with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa. See more details about the evening’s program here >>
Strawberries and ice cream are priced at $5. For concert viewing, table seats on the floor are $20 per ticket and balcony seats are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased via telephone: 781-234-8377, or, tickets are available for purchase at the door the night of the event.
According to a recent press release, this event is wheelchair-accessible and masking is optional. There will also be wrapped snacks and everages available for purchase during the concert.
