The Minuteman Bikeway bridge, located just outside of the Alewife MBTA Red Line station, is undergoing construction and will be closed to the public starting June 9. During this time, a detour will be set up along the sidewalk of the Alewife Station Access Road.
According to a recent town announcement, the town is replacing the wood decking of the bikeway bridge. Construction is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Members of the police department are expected to be on site during the work.
The town estimates, depending on weather, completion in roughly two weeks. The detour route is narrow and riders are urged to exercise caution and be courteous to other trail users.
