The 26th annual Arlington Open Studios, sponsored by the Arlington Center for the Arts (ACA), was held Saturday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s event is expected to showcase more than 80 local artists.
The open studios offer artists in Arlington the chance to showcase their work and residents with the opportunity to view/ purchase a wide range of art, including paintings, photography, jewelry, sculptures and more.
The ACA website says that the featured artists are to be displaying their work across two sites. The first site is located within Arlington Town Hall (730 Mass. Ave.) and is to feature more than 40 artists across two floors. Additionally, guests can enjoy a performance from the local group Spajazzy as well as Arlington High School musicians on the Town Hall steps. The performance schedule has yet to be released.
The second site is sprawled between the Arlington Community Center (27 Maple St.) on the first floor, and the ACA building (20 Academy St.) on the third floor. 40 additional artists will be set up at the community center, or, guests can head to the ACA building for free puppet performances and a ceramics demo within the clay studio. Additionally, a “bonus” site within the Robbins Library (700 Mass. Ave.) will be the host for poetry readings from the Red Letter Poems Project. The schedule and poet information has yet to be released.
According to its website, the ACA is devoted to the mission of inspiring joy, nurturing growth and building community through a dynamic mix of classes, camps, exhibits and special events.
