School Committee votes to post vacancy for English learning implementation specialist

June 20, 2024

The Arlington School Committee met at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in hybrid session — via Zoom and in person at Arlington Public School District’s office, 14 Mill Brook Drive, second floor.

The vote was unanimous to create and advertise a one-year position, an English learning implementation specialist, to help the district’s growing population of English language learners. As of 3 p.m. Friday June 21, the job was not yet listed on the district’s help-wanted website page, though some 60 other positions of all sorts, including some intended just for the summer, are.

The board also voted to approve recommended budget transfers.

Superintendent Elizabeth Homan gave a report on the working group for the strategic plan plus other updates.

The recording of this meeting likely will be posted online in coming days by nonprofit cable television station ACMi.

This notice based on information from the Town of Arlington website, YourArlington’s files and a writer’s observation of part of the meeting was published Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and updated most recently at 3 p.m. Friday, June 21.
