This August, I am proud to say, I will have the privilege of riding in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) for the eighth time. This year, I will be riding for my wife, Nancy, who was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago and received treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
I now know firsthand how important it is to raise money for Dana Farber so it can continue its research for life-saving cancer treatments.
I will also be riding for my sister-in-law Colleen Lombard, who also received treatment for breast cancer at Dana Farber.
During this ride and my training I will also be riding in honor of Catherine Malatesta, who lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2015 and was a shining star in our community and her memory continues on through her scholarship fund.
And I am also riding for Patrick Doherty, who lost his courageous battle to cancer, and my friend Lt. Dan Kelly.
Part of the PMC is the commitment to raise $4,800 — to help fight the battle against cancer. Cancer is a devastating disease which, unfortunately, affects each of us at some point in our lives.
