The Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) winter social is set for Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Arlington Center for the Arts (enter from parking lot near ACA Theater between Tufts and Foster Streets).
Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
The special guest is George Reynolds who builds custom bikes at the Reynolds Weld Lab in Derry N.H. George specializes in custom designs for recumbent and cargo bikes and will bring some for display at the event.
Also featured will be East Arlington resident Nina Fischer, who will speak about the iCanShine Bike Camp which she is trying to bring to the Ottoson School for the second year in a row. The iCanShine camp is a wonderful program that gathers volunteers to teach special needs kids how to ride bicycles for the first time.
The weeklong camp will occur indoors-and-out at the Ottoson School during April vacation. Though driven by Nina and others volunteers' efforts, there is a significant cost to bringing the camp to Arlington and we hope you will consider making a donation.
You can make a donation and see a great short video about the program at Nina's firstgiving page at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ninafischer/NinaFischersFundraisingPage#.UvLgKPR6ij0.email
