Nora Tosti scholarship application due March 1

Scholarships logoApplications were accepted until March 1 for the Nora Catherine Tosti Memorial Scholarship.

Nora Tosti’s loving family and caring friends established this scholarship to honor the memory of a young woman who cared deeply about others.

At the time of her death, she was studying to become a medical assistant.  She had worked for several years as a nurse’s aide caring for elderly patients and wanted to further her education to pursue a health care career.  She also loved small children and wanted to become a foster parent.

The Nora Catherine Tosti Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to help people who, like Nora, want to pursue careers in healthcare or child care at the Certificate or Associate Degree level.  Although candidates for Bachelor’s Degrees will be considered, those pursuing Certificates or Associate Degrees will have first preference.  This scholarship is open to adults as well as new high school graduates.

The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a current or former resident of Arlington.

Interested applicants should request an application by contacting the guidance office at Minuteman Regional High School, 758 Marrett Road, Lexington 02421, or by calling 781-861-6500 x289.

The Nora Catherine Tosti Memorial Scholarship will be awarded without regard to race, gender, nationality, religion, disability or sexual orientation.

About YourArlington

Bob SpragueYourArlington.com is an experiment in community journalism dedicated to reporting news about Arlington, Mass., and the Arlington-related views of its residents. The experiment not unique but is part of a nationwide movement called "citizen journalism." The phrase gained currency through We the Media, a 2004 book by Dan Gillmor. This kind of journalism encourages members of a community to write about that community. The writing may be reporting, or it may be opinion.
